What we believe
We are grounded in the Scriptures and centred on the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We embrace a biblical and historic Christianity as expressed in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, and as summarized in the Nicene and Apostles Creed.
The beliefs of New Life City Church are most fully summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith along with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. These secondary documents are viewed as subordinate to the Bible, which alone is viewed as the infallible Word of God.
Our denomination, PARCSA, holds to the Westminster Standards as our core statement of theology. Our sending church is: Renewal Fellowship.
Our motivation
Africa is a continent with 54 countries. Sub-Sahara Africa’s youth (aged 15-24) by 2040 will be two-times more than China’s, three-times more than USA and Europe combined. By 2070 working-age population (1.8 bn) will be bigger than the USA, India, & China combined. Clearly this is the age of opportunity. Africa presents a gospel opportunity unmatched by any other continent.
Reality Check !
Africa’s rapid urbanization is another factor to be considered. By 2030, the continent will host over 10 mega-cities (cities with over 10 million people), by 2050, it is projected that 60% of Africa’s population will live in urban settings. This will provide unprecedented accesses to communities that were geographically or culturally isolated. Effective urban missions have therefore become essential, requiring innovative strategies and contextual ministry. Why plant in Johannesburg, Gauteng? Planting in Gauteng particularly, Johannesburg is vital because it is Africa’s gateway city – an epicenter of migration, youth culture, and economic activity. Its diversity and desnity provide unmatched opportunities for gospel impact, discipleship, and leadership development for renewal of the city.
If New Life City Church is going to live as a gospel missional community, we need a specific focus. This location allows us to narrow the scope of people we are committed to and discipling to the glory of God. Where? We are praying for space in either Melville or Braamfontein Werf.
